Jeremy Blake, got lost at Rockaway Beach. Walked permanently east out into the sea, and when his wallet washed up it was found by some kids. In it a letter read don’t cry, this is not a tragedy, this is not an accident. I know how to swim. I know what I did.

Patrick, I’m curious where you heard this version of events. Every account I’ve read says his wallet was left on shore, no reference to kids, no reference to this letter, just a brief note saying something like ‘I’ve gone to join the lovely Theresa.’
Or is the caption to the painting just your imaginings of what could have happened?
