We’re finishing up a rather exciting project at Disney in the next few weeks. It’s been keeping me pretty busy and away from this blog. The short is called Paperman. Directed by John Kahrs, the short will be running the festival circuit next year.
We’re very proud of this one and can’t wait to show the world.
produced by Kristina Reed
animation supervision by myself
art direction by Jeff Turley
Vfx sup. Kyle Odermat
(image is not from the short.. I’ll post one as soon as one is cleared!$
I ended up illustrating various palindromes as if they were movie titles. Some turned out decent enough… some feel rushed. This was the longest palindrome I came across online.

Went up to the roof tonight to paint on the iPad from life… Downtown Los Angeles looking east from spring and 8th. The iPad is perfect for painting at night.
Waiting on a play blast or two back when we were bringing rapunzel to life I did a painting or two of the office on an iPad. Painted in sketchbook. Sorry if I made you look a bit fat mr green.

Thank you so much, everyone who went out and saw Tangled last weekend. I am very proud of the work we all did over the last year and grateful that the country seems to be embracing our efforts. Thanks to all of you who have said such nice things about the film to me personally. I couldnt be happier that you enjoyed it!
This is the second trailer released for “Tangled” the film I’ve been animating on for the last year. The trailer markets the film more on a boy’s adventure angle. The film itself is pretty fantastic, go see it November 24th.
I’m off to the UK this weekend for some eating, drinking and drawing. Plenty of sketchbook posts sure to follow.
Only six more days of Tangled animation! I needed a bit of real media on my one day off this week. Went to paint up in the hills behind the hollywood bowl. They posed by the pool. The weather was incredible, 68 and partly cloudy. I, however, was rusty. I’m not quite happy with either of these, but I havent posted in a long time. As soon as the show finishes there will be much more. Each was from 3 20 minute sessions, so about an hour each total.

Some good advice on entering the animation business
I dont often make posts about disney or what I’m working on but I recently went back to ringling to recruit for our talent development program and noticed a few things about reels. Someone sent me this article today and he nails it. its the work… not the case and cover letter that lands the job.
Its a good article about landing your first animation gig, or breaking into a studio in general.
